WHEN IS THE MUSEUM OPEN TO THE PUBLIC?
The Marines Museum is open to the public from Tuesday through Sunday, from 9:00 to 17:00. During the official school holidays of the Central Region, we are also open on Mondays (from 09:30 to 17:00).
IS THE MUSEUM SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN?
Yes, the Marines Museum is suitable for children. We have oodles of fun things to do and experience. We have even been awarded the ‘Kidsproof’ quality label by Museumkids! So much so you can even throw your birthday party at the Museum. Even though the museum focuses on things military, it is perfectly suited for people of all ages as you will not see any shocking images anywhere. For ‘Marines on a Mission’ and the ‘Fire!’ shooting game, the recommended age is: 8+.
ARE DOGS ALLOWED AT THE MUSEUM?
No, dogs are not allowed inside in the museum (nor any other pets). An exception is made for assistance and guide dogs.
AM I ALLOWED TO TAKE MY BAG INSIDE THE MUSEUM?
Only smaller bags (max. dimensions 25x25x25cm) are allowed to be taken into the museum. Other bags can be safely left at the cloakroom, which also has free lockers.
ARE VISITORS ALLOWED TO TAKE FOOD AND DRINKS INTO THE MUSEUM?
To keep the museum clean and tidy and to protect our exhibits, food and drink are not allowed inside the museum. However, our workshop space De Kajuit (The Cabin) is available for you to enjoy your home-brought food. This is where you can tuck into your home-brought cake or other goodies as part of a children’s party for instance, as long as you leave The Cabin clean and tidy when you leave. Coffee and tea are available in the museum hall.
WHAT ARE THE CASHIER DESK WAITS LIKE?
Most of the time, waits at the cashier desk are very reasonable, although there are the odd exceptional times. At weekends and during holiday periods for instance, things can get a little busier than normal on occasion. But we always make sure queues are processed as swiftly as possible!
CAN I ORDER MY TICKETS ONLINE?
Tickets for the museum are available from the museum’s cashier desk. We do sell tickets online, go to: https://tickets.mariniersmuseum.nl/nl/tickets And there are third parties that sell our tickets aswell.
DO YOU HAVE APPROPRIATE FACILITIES FOR THE DISABLED? BABIES AND TODDLERS?
The Marines Museum is easily accessible to and offers facilities for the disabled. All floors are served by a lift. In addition, we have a disabled toilet and a wheelchair that is available to be used. Right in front of the Museum entrance, we have a disabled parking area. Wheel chair user companions get free admission to the museum. The museum also has a dedicated diaper changing space for babies.
DOES THE MUSEUM HAVE A CLOAKROOM / LOCKERS?
Yes, the museum has a cloakroom and lockers which can be used free of charge.
AM I ALLOWED TO TAKE PICTURES IN THE MUSEUM?
You are very welcome to take pictures inside the museum, although visitors are not permitted to take pictures or shoot videos involving the use of tripods. Similarly, lamps and flash light equipment are not permitted inside the museum’s dark rooms. The museum has various nice spots to take pictures. For starters, there is our fun Photo Booth on the first floor, where you can have our picture taken kitted out like a real marine. And the hall has a real jeep, which you can climb into for a few nice shots, with a fun neon text in the background.
DO YOU HAVE WI-FI?
Unfortunately, the museum does not have wi-fi.
WHAT IF I NEED TO LET YOU KNOW MY GROUP IS DELAYED?
If your group is unexpectedly delayed, we would obviously like to know. In that case, please call the museum at: +31 (0)10 - 412 96 00. This will enable us to notify the tour guide for instance.
